Governor's office update

Governor Rendell's office has some important information for the residents of the Conshohocken Community afflicted by the devastating fire Thursday night.

While Pennsylvania does not have a grant or monetary assistance program in place, our sources relayed that the governor submitted a request last night for a Small Business Assist (SBA), which if approved, would make low-interest loans available to eligible renters and business owners who suffered damages in the fire. The SBA is slated to review the property damage this morning on site and will make a determination soon.

The request is still pending review, and we'll keep you updated as the situation progresses. You can read the release here.

In related news, our sources recommend residents go to the Spring Mill Fire Department, where volunteers will help with the re-issuance of drivers’ licenses and other personal identification documents. Brochures will be available with information on how to procure social security cards and other important documents.

Spring Mill Fire Department is located at 1210 Hector Street in Conshohocken. Residents should bring the following information: a contact phone number, Social Security number, annual household gross income, address of the damaged property, and insurance information.
